How to Up Level Your Confidence in 5 Steps - No. 2

Welcome to round number 2! If you like, feel free to go through the introduction again or head directly to step numero dos!

Confidence is something you either have or just don’t? Mmmh mhhh!! It’s actually a personality trait you CAN learn if you are willing to. It’s a journey, no doubt and there are different ways of being confident for different personality types. As an example a confident extrovert will appear very outgoing and very likely to share his or her ideas just right away, may even feel at ease when surrounded by lots of new people.

Introvert confidence is more about knowing what you have and what you’re about, what talents you were given and to enter a room with an open mind and an open heart, not being afraid of social situations and very sure about what you have to say and that it is worthy. Or being okay with not feeling like sharing but not self-sabotaging oneself for that ‚antisocial‘ behaviour when it’s really just overwhelming to be in a group of people.

So! Know yourself, check in with who you are and what your personality, beliefs and passions are. Then show up self-assured and settled. If that’s in a loud and present or a reserved and calm way doesn’t matter.

These 5 steps will give you an idea on how to improve your confidence every single day. These are a couple of aspects you should be aware of to consciously up level your authenticity and joy to share.

In order to make this even more practical, I designed a daily schedule for 7 days which may help you remind to invest in your growth throughout the day - just like that! You’ll see how smooth it will feel after a couple of days of new habits!!

Happy exploring and evolving!!

2. Confident posture

Speaking about brain and interconnectedness to your reality, let’s get into the connection of body and mind. We not only have the power to influence outcomes through thoughts and words, but we are equally able to affect our brain and how we feel through movement.

A truly inspiring lady named Amy Cuddy once talked about the POWER POSES in her TED Talk a couple of years ago. She educates about the relationship between movement and chemical reactions in our brain. In short, standing with the arms up in the air makes us feel powerful, confident and happy. It is a natural reaction to success and power! Athletes do this pose after they’ve just won a marathon, animals do exactly that to create space and to defend their territory.

Here are 3 poses you can do in the morning before starting your day, whenever you feel down or before a presentation, a job interview, an exam etc.

1) Smile.

Or fake-smile.

Your brain can’t tell if you are honestly smiling or just faking it. If you smile, there are hormones released in your brain that uplift your mood immediately - if you let it be! I personally felt that whenever I was working in service in a cafe or such - because I had to be friendly and smile a lot, I felt better myself too! It’s crazy what a huge effect it has on you!

You may even want to lift your arms and hands up in the air, which leads us to number 2:

2) Winner Pose.

Arms and hands up in the air, possibly smiling and you feel badass! You can’t be sad if you’re smiling, it’s impossible for your brain to get that as your body is sending the message: HEY WE ARE SMILING - WE ARE HAPPY!! Animals do just the same to feel powerful, they create space for themselves by raising their arms, sending out: HELLO HERE I AM. I AM HERE. I AM POWERFUL. I AM CONFIDENT: DON’T MESS UP WITH ME!! This ancient natural pose releases chemicals like testosterone that make you FEEL more in charge and BIG.

3) Upright,

confident posture.

Do you ever observe your own posture? Do you wrap up or do you stand up tall and let yourself be seen? How does it look like to walk confidently through the streets? Shoulders back, chin up, straight back, body tension. If you act like you were confident, you will soon believe it. You have the power to manipulate yourself and we learn through repetition. Fake it until you make it is not just a phrase, it is TRUTH. Act like it’s already reality, act like you wish to feel and I tell you step by step, you will get there.
